The Eggplant Bowl[edit | edit source]
The Eggplant Bowl is the name for the yearly tilt between the Arizona Wildcats and the Colorado Buffaloes. It is a regular season match-up in Pac-12 Conference play.
Origin[edit | edit source]
The Eggplant Bowl was named after the first coach upset the Arizona coach and current PAC12 Commissioner. As a peace offering the Buffalo coach sent personal mail to the Wildcat coach who discovered it was simply a package containing ten eggplants. After Justin Average took over the role of coach he agreed to rename the contest and let the students decide upon the traveling trophy.
Trophy[edit | edit source]
The winners of the Eggplant Bowl receive an enormous bronze trophy called "The Sauce Bucket" that is quite phallic in nature despite the student's protests that its "only a vegetable, what's the big deal!" The trophy travels back and forth and back and forth between the two schools.
